Message
“And so, dear brothers and sisters who belong to God and are partners with those
called to heaven, think carefully about this Jesus whom we declare to be God’s
messenger and High Priest. For he was faithful to God, who appointed him, just as
Moses served faithfully when he was entrusted with God’s entire house.” Hebrews
3:1-2
In our world of changing ideas and values the Christian faith is often dismissed as not
relevant in our modern world. Jesus and the values he laid down are treated as old
fashion and out of touch. People are drawn to others’ ideas, concepts, and faiths that
agree with how they want to live.
Jesus and the Christian faith is discounted before it is ever looked at because of these
societal pressures. Yet Jesus claimed so much about his personhood that can’t be
easily dismissed. Jesus worked and spoke and performed in such a way as to point
towards his claims of Messiahship and Godhood.
Jesus brought hope and life and freedom to so many people down through the ages,
that he needs to be considered in our world today. When we choose to follow His
direction on loving and worshipping God, on loving our neighbours and our enemies,
on putting the resources he has given us to good use, we can live lives of peace and
joy because he is at the centre.
Jesus needs to take the centre stage of our lives so that peace and joy can come
and be experienced in our lives. When we have the confidence to know that Jesus is
bigger than the wars in the world and the pain people bring to us and others, no
matter what happens Jesus becomes our sense of security and trust. This doesn’t
eliminate the struggles we have to journey through, but it does give us a real sense of
peace because Jesus in bigger than the things we have to face.
Have a great week growing in Christ.
